About us
Heating and Cooling Help for Fremont and the Wider Bay Area
PrimeAir HVAC Repair Service works on the heating and cooling systems that keep Fremont-area homes comfortable, from older gas furnaces and central air conditioners to newer heat pumps and ductless mini-splits. Most of our calls start with something simple: a system that won't turn on, a room that never gets warm, or an AC that runs but doesn't cool. We start by finding the cause, then walk you through what we found and what your options are. Sometimes that means a repair. Sometimes, when equipment is near the end of its life, it means talking through replacement, including whether a heat pump makes sense for your home. Local rules are changing how Bay Area homes are heated, and we'll explain how they apply to you without pressuring you to replace equipment that still works. We also handle routine maintenance, duct cleaning, and indoor air quality work, and we offer 24/7 emergency service for the times a breakdown can't wait.

Service areas
Where we work
We serve Fremont and nearby cities in the East Bay, the Tri-Valley, and the Peninsula. Summers are dry and winters are mild and damp across much of the region, but inland neighborhoods can run noticeably hotter than areas near the Bay, which affects how hard your cooling system works.

FAQ
Common questions
Do I have to replace my gas furnace because of the new Bay Area Air District rules?
No. The Air District appliance rules don't require you to replace working equipment. They apply only when an existing furnace or water heater fails or is replaced.
What changes for furnaces under Rule 9-4?
Under Bay Area Air District Rule 9-4, natural gas furnaces manufactured from 2029 must meet a zero-NOx emission standard. In practice, that points homeowners toward heat pumps when a furnace is replaced after that date. If your furnace is aging, it's worth thinking about your options before it fails.
What about water heaters?
Rule 9-6 set 2027 as the zero-NOx date for small water heaters, but the Air District Board is considering amendments in November 2026 that could delay it. Check the current rule before planning a water heater replacement.
Can I still get the federal tax credit for a heat pump?
No. The federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit (25C) covered qualifying heat pumps placed in service before December 31, 2025. It isn't available for new installations after that date.
Are there local incentives for heat pumps?
Bay Area homeowners can check BayREN and their local clean energy provider for current heat pump and electrification incentives. Amounts and availability change with each funding cycle, so we confirm the current offer before we include it in a quote.
Should I repair my system or replace it?
It depends on what failed, how old the equipment is, and how well it has been working. We'll explain what we find and the tradeoffs of each choice so you can decide what fits your home.
Do you offer emergency service?
Yes. We offer 24/7 emergency service for heating and cooling breakdowns that can't wait until regular hours.
How often should my HVAC system be maintained?
Many homeowners schedule a checkup before the heating season and another before summer. Regular maintenance helps catch small problems early and keeps your system running the way it should.
